National Knowledge Commission Chairman Sam Pitroda and well-known orthopaedic surgeon SV Adinarayana Rao were awarded Doctor of Science degrees on the occasion. Dodla Ramachandra Reddy, a social worker from Kavali in Nellore district, received the Doctor of Letters degree. Addressing the media later, Krishna rubbished the comments of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati against film personalities. He quoted NTR, MGR, Jayalalitha and Karunanidhi as examples of how film stars can make it big in politics.
