Aatadista is the impish title of a very impish album. This Nitin and Kajal starrer has music by Chakri and three lyricists. It's not a bad compilation, but for anyone who's heard one album by Chakri previously, this will sound the same. The novelty is lost and there's no real chartbusting number in it. It might be situational and apt for the script, but perhaps the songs could have been better than this.
Style Style A slightly juvenile-teenage song, complete with that category of lyrics courtesy Suddala Ashokteja and a husky rendition by Suraj-Jagan. It's become a norm to start an album with a male solo for the male lead to prance about stylishly. This could be a 'hero introduction' number, but not necessarily. It's got cheek, energy and Chakri's regular style. **.75
Pappede Chummade Chakri does his typical 'Ohhh..!' at the beginning, where Devan and Kousalya take over the playback. This quirky fast paced duet with tongue-twisting lyrics by Ramajogayya Sastry is a hummable duet. The song mellows down a shade or two in the middle, and finishes off with a flourish. A trademark loudspeaker number, sure to make its presence felt in all big and small social gatherings of Telugu music loving folk. ***
Vachindiro Sikala Noel's rap introduces the song to us, after which Simha and Suchitra take center-stage. This sounds like a remix, with the instrumental going haywire with the electric guitar standing out. With typical rustic lyrics by Sahithi, the music has a distinct western influence. This could possibly be the (mandatory) 'item song' of the movie. **.75
Milamila This song also starts with some rap, after which Ravivarma and Kousalya render Bhaskarabhatla's lines. A very active English chorus (with Bhargavi) and a heavy western influence in terms of the use of strings and a subtle salsa touch completes 'Milamila Milamila Missamma'. ***
Sorry Sorry 'Sorry Sorry anta unte over chestave pilla'. In short, a song that one would expect in a Raviteja starrer with Chakri's music; from 'Chupultho Guchi Guchi' in Idiot to 'Nee Chupu' in Krishna, the cheeky aspect is ever-present in that combi. Fareedh renders this impudent number in his unusual tone. Bhaskarabhalta's lyrics are amusing. **.75
Regipoye This is supposed to be an intense and passionate number, but even though Suchitra's sensual voice could have made it so, Vijaykumar's rhyme-a-word lines somehow undermine the effect. Chakri joins her half-way through the song, right after Bhargavi whispers softly in English for good measure. **.75
Last Word Aatadista might not be a disappointing album, but somehow there is no freshness and that disqualifies it from being chartbusting right away. Since the fates of the movie and music are intermingled to no small extent here, if the movie fares well the songs might be more appreciated in turn. As of now, the album has two good numbers with everything else having a repetitive feel to it.
