Mani Sharma In Full Form

APK | June 10, 2006

Rating: **** (***** Very Good, **** Good, *** Fair, ** Average, * Bad)

The hype and hoopla surrounding this movie, not to mention the expectations along with the rumors are tremendous. NTR desperately needs a hit and might as well score one with this movie, if the music is anything to go by. The team really seems to have worked on it, and the music is will please one and all.

Oka Chinni 'Oka chinni navve navvi yuddhalenno apachchu...bandalenno kalapachchu’ goes this song, which speaks about the greatness of a simple smile. It is melodious, catchy and KK's vocals add merit to the already beautifully composed song. A clear winner and a cool way to start the album. It brings a 'oka chinni navvu' to the listeners. ****

Jabiliki After 'Aarya' which came a long while ago, Chandrabose pens his trademark style simple and lovely lyrics for this album. Jabiliki is a romantic duet which, for some reason, reminds us of another of NTR's nice duets-'Nee Navvula' from 'Aadi.' This does not have the pace of that number, but is all the same another feather in the cap for this album, especially the way it starts off. But Hariharan's vocals are no match for the female voice, Vardhini's. Even then, it's scores a point. Three points, in fact. ***1/2

Gola Gola This is a dance number and pumps up the energy level of the album. Although it is beyond debate that this is a peppy song, Mani Sharma has composed this stuff before, and you get the feeling that you've heard this before.. somewhere. And the female voice for this song, Sujatha (like Jabili's Vardhini) is too high. So Sharma's been there, done that. ***

Yekantanga Hello, Karunya, we meet again! This boy is on his way to the A list singers. His rendering of this solo about a guy thinking about his loved one is intense, deep and passionate. Chandrabose and Mani Sharma along with Karunya elevate this song to a higher level-the composition, the lyrics and the singing are all kept simple and straightforward and is absolutely charming. ****1/2

Mumtajmahalu Mani Sharma loves playing with his keyboard, which is exactly what he does in the beginning of this song. A song which is heavily laden with techno beats, this is another dance number with the male voice promising the world to the girl, and the girl politely refusing it.. asking only for his love. And to dance to that-great fun, and will be a great watch if the picturizations rocks, as does the song. ***.75

Nuvvasalu This song starts with the male lead telling the girl in words all the things he doesn't like about her-and we already like this fun song, don't we? 'Nuvvasalu nacchale, nuvvendukano nacchale' is the much needed 'mass' song and has fun lyrics and is composed typical Mani Sharma style, which makes it a hit number. The drum beats in between each phrase makes one tap their feet automatically. Jassie Gift and Chitra give their voices for Bhaskarabhatla's lyrics. Remember 'Atakavala patakavala'? Well, this song almost comes up to it, and is sure to be the flavor of the season. ****

And the verdict is.. Fun-filled Hero intro song-Tick, Disco song-Tick, Romantic duet-Tick, Mass/Item number-Tick, Passionate solo-Tick, Dance number-Tick. Check list done.

As you can see-the complete package for the regular cinegoer. A salesperson for this album would declare 'Great for long car drives and all kinds of parties'. So it is-and the appeal of these songs will increase if the movie runs well. 'Ashok' is a clear winner, at least as far as the music is concerned.
