Bheema stars Vikram and Trisha, and is a bilingual. Harris Jayaraj has composed the music. After the super successful Anniyan/Aparichitudu, the actor-musician combination is back again. The expectations are high, and not at all disappointing. There is something for everyone in this album, and the music is overall satisfying.

Oka Mukhamu Naresh Iyer sings the number with much gusto, along with Krish. One can imagine Vikram in this song, ready to rock. This has obviously been composed keeping the 'Hero-image' in mind. A good start to a good album. ***.25

Paruvapu Vaana The way this song starts, with a female solo humming the tune, is Harris Jayaraj's specialty. Prasanna, Haricharan and Mahathi render this melodious composition. Lyrics by AM Rathnam & Siva Ganesh sound like how it feels when the tune is first composed in Tamil, then the original lyrics are translated to Telugu. But it has its appeal, like 'Uyire Uyire/Cheliya Cheliya' and so many of Jayaraj's other compositions. A sweet, soulful and a romantic number-a definite winner. ***.75

Vikram and TrishaRangu Rangamma This song has a good use of instrumental including drums and very good vocals. The ever-dependable Kailash Kher and Vijay Yesudas lend their voices along with Swarnalatha (sounding cheeky and forceful). The lyrics are kept simple, and the focus is on rhythm. As opposed to the western-influenced tunes of most of Jayaraj's numbers, this is more ethnic and tends to be folk-based. An energetic danceable number. ***.5

Rahasyapu Kalale How refreshing is Hariharan's voice? Very refreshing. He pairs up with Madhu Shree to give the playback for this song. This is just another duet, nothing harsh on the ears, and the feather in the cap for this song is Hariharan's expressive voice. This is one of those songs that grow on you as you listen. This sounds better in Tamil though, because some of the appeal is lost in translation. ***

Kanu Choopula This is a fusion number. There is a western as well as Indian influence in this duet. Karthik and Harini team up for this pacy and hummable song. Harini's voice sounds very sweet. The contrast between the middle-eastern (Afghani) chorus and the Indian beats and playback sounds good. This is also one of the songs that grow on you as you listen more. ***.25

Trisha and VikramO Manasa Another lovely voice after Hariharan-Sadhana Sargam renders this number, along with Chinmayee (who hums beautifully throughout). Nikhil Mathew gives her company (a superb debut), and the playback is faultless in this song. But it sounds very much like 'Preminche Premavaa' from Nuvvu Nenu Prema, a Rehman composition. Agreed, the former assistant is bound to take some lessons out of his mentor's book, but this is a stretch. But still, this is a really charming melody. ***.5

Last Word Three songs are really good, and the rest are hummable too. One more winner from Harris Jayaraj.
