Rating: ***1/2 (***** Very Good, **** Good, *** Fair, ** Average, * Bad)

After Manmadhudu, Nag is Boss yet again and one hopes the music is just as good. A very unlikely choice for music composers this time for director VN Aditya (of 'Nenunannu' fame) has been Kalyan Malik and Harry Anand, the famous remix Guru of songs like 'Kaanta Laga' and 'Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar'. So what is the duo doing in a Telugu movie? Well, our dear old Nag is heavily into contemporary, fun-loving and peppy music. Remember Super. This is Super re-invented.

Nachindi Chesey While cousin Karunya, Indian Idol Runner-up, has been signed by the top slot of composers and has already given a couple of cool hits like Sakhiya (Asthram) and Yekantanga Unna (Ashok), Hemachandra of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has been taking it nice and slow. He shows promise, and is already a favorite among his people, not to mention people all over the country. We saw Super songs and Chowta all over MTV and [V]-and Hemachandra's casual yet unique vocals in this song will catch the attention of one and all, Telugus and Non-Telugus-it has the beat and flavor of the youth in it, and that knows no boundaries. ***.75

Yedho Tamashaga This song is sensual and fun at the same time. Nihal impresses with his voice, and has scored again after Pokiri (Remember 'Gala Gala'?). This song has been tailor-made for Nagarjuna, as it has all the mischief and romance that fits his image. ***1/2

Naa Kallu Vaale This sounds like an item number. How can a movie not have this absolutely mandatory number? This has some Hindi lyrics which go 'Jeele, Jeele, Pyar Mein Jeele' and a rustic Indian beat. ***

Veluthunna Sad, soft and melodious. It's about leaving someone and the heartache that comes along with it. Sunitha croons this song with loads of feeling. KK gives company half-way, starting with 'Vasthunna', an enthusiastic rendering full of hope. ***1/2

Andagaadu Muttukunte KK and Sunitha again, but this time in a contrasting song full of mischief-one that is reminiscent of 'Gicchi Gicchi' from Super, or even 'Okkasare Once More Oppukove' from Allari Alludu. ***1/2

Anaganaga KK and Sunitha again! This is one of the best picks in the album, and is extremely melodious and catchy. It sounds better each time you hear it. A lovely and soft song. ***.75

Hello Baasu Sounds like we have another item number-this one is earthy, with heavy Indian beats, raunchy and some English lyrics here and there. Gayathri and Tippu sing with much gusto. A likely visual treat for the front benchers! ***

Theme 'Yo people, here's the story about a boss and his sec' and with this the number starts, spelling out B.O.S.S-I love you for chorus. Funky and rhythmic.

And the verdict is.. A good album, one that passes your expectations. Malik and Anand play safe and deliver music that cannot go wrong. Nag has his usual Hindi lyrics and stylized rendering of vocals, some sweet lyrics, two mischief filled songs and of course, an Item number. Hemachandra, Nihal, Sunitha and KK have done a good job, and the album can be heard again and again, where it grows on you. Nothing harsh, nothing heavy. Just some light and peppy music-if that's your taste, then you will love 'Boss'.
