Chandamama is Krishna Vamsi's latest venture, with music by KM Radhakrishnan of Anand and Godavari fame. Krishna Vamsi's movies mostly have good music, with one or two memorable numbers. Ditto KM, whose music sensibilities are mellow and classical based, at the same time youthful. This combination could have churned out better music, but Chandamama still is a pleasant album. The movie stars Navdeep, Kajal, Sivabalaji and Sindhu Menon.

Regumullole Noyal renders the English so-called 'rap' that the title song starts with. This is a peppy duet by Karthik and Srilekha with lyrics by Suddala Ashokteja. This song has a slight Hindi influence-including the tune, the chorus and the end of each stanza. It oscillates between naughty and nice. **.75

Kajal and NavdeepBugge Bangarama This is a sweet number rendered by Rajesh. This song is all about a girl the boy's fallen for, with a little folk twist in the beginning and the interlude. Typical KM Radhakrishnan, complete with mellow beats and a catchy rhythm. This song is all softness and melody. ***

Ghallu Ghallu Mantu Now you can recognize Karunya's voice without looking at the credits list. He's getting pretty good at this 'Orugalluke Pilla' type of numbers, which is what 'Ghallu Ghallu Mantu' is like. KM Radhakrishnan sings an interlude in the song with a detached tune and Gayathri gives the feminine touch. Again, a song full of traditional beats, but energetic this time with lyrics by Peddada Murthy. ***

Nalo Voohalaku This song is in the same league as 'Manasa Gelupu'. This is rendered by the beautiful voice of Asha Bhonsle, with KM Radhakrishnan giving her company with a funky background beat, which stands out. Ananth Sriram has penned in the lyrics for this lovely number. ***.5

Sakku Bayine This sounds like the mandatory item number (yawn!). This song has item number specialists Mamta Mohandas and Jessie Gift lending their voices to it. Nothing exceptional, but might find a place in the Top 100 item songs of this year. **.5

Sivabalaji and KajalMukkupai Muddupettu A duet sung by Haricharan and Sujatha, and it's all about-a kiss. Sai Sriharsha has written the quirky lyrics, and be prepared to hear about all kinds of kisses. The music makes it seem mushy and different rather than sensual. ***

Pick of the Album Nalo Voohalaku.

Last Word If you've liked Anand and Godavari, then chances are you like KM Radhakrishnan. And Chandamama falls in the same category. He uses a lot of Veena and Tabla and one can recognize his music now, and Chandamama belongs to his trademark. The music is melodious and hummable, but certainly not extraordinary. But it grows on you each time you listen to it, especially Nalo Voohalaku, Ghallu Ghallu Mantu and Bugge Bangarama. It's a decent album with some good numbers and some repetitive rhythms.
