SumanthA Malyalam movie's remake, Classmates stars Sumanth and Sada. Music by Koti cannot be called outstanding, but we have the good old Koti beats back in this time of internationalizing Telugu music. Soft, melodious music that this gen has grown up listening to.

Gunde Chaatuga SaReGaMaPa finalist Hemachandra gives his voice to this number. It is soft, romantic and is hummable and catchy. This is a trademark Koti song, totally romantic in its appeal and kept totally simple, without the hullabaloo that surrounds songs these days. Lovely voice, sweet and effortless rhythm and beautiful lyrics just about sums up this solo song. ***.5

Naranarallo Uthsaham A college song with those typical fun and funky beats and lyrics about campus issues, elections, youth et al. Tippu, SMK Sai render this number with much enthusiasm. This is the sort of song that anyone who's been to college ever can identify with, and has a casual Latino flavor to it. ***

Mounamenduku This is a duet with a 'Mujra' touch. Mallikarjun and Anjana Soumya did the playback. It is all about expression, and it has that old Telugu music touch to it. A melodious number with good vocals and instruments. ***

Bhugolamtho Banthata A group song that shows unity, goals and energy distinctly. The lyrics are made to sort of tell a story and carry the scene forward. Hemachandra again along with Sandeep, Kousalya and Chaitra render this song in unison. **.75

Sada and Kamalini MukherjeeGunde Chaatuga The same number again, expect this time with a female playback-Chaitra. ***.5

Last Word All the songs are typical Koti, and ardent loyalists will be pleased. The songs are all either slow or with a subdued enthusiasm. Not as exceptional as one would like it to be, Classmates still is not hard on your ears-it is good old Telugu music without the frenzy and the loudness.
