Allu ArjunAfter his lukewarm debut in Gangotri, Allu Arjun got himself a makeover. He appeared in and as Aarya, danced his way to success. Happy didn't really make everyone happy, neither did Bunny before that. This kid has the zeal of a million wannabes, so he's back with a bang-6 pack abs et al! Puri Jagannath, of course, is basking in the limelight ever since he decided Mahesh was Pokiri. Now he's at it again. Now Arjun is Desamuduru. Let's see if the public is convinced. For now, there are three good numbers, which is decent enough. There are more dance numbers than anything else. Chakri was deserted for Mani Sharma for Puri's Pokiri, but YVS Chowdary was convinced Chakri could do justice to his Devadasu. He's back in Puri's camp after the phenomenal success of Devadasu.

Ninne Typical Chakri! We've been listening to this kind of a song from Itlu Sravani Subramanyam (Remember 'Emo Emavuno'?), and guess what? People like it. That's what is expected out of Chakri, and he doesn't disappoint. Except this time, it sounds bigger and better, if you get the drift. The lyrics are fun and the song peps you up. A winner with Chakri and Kausalya behind the mike, the kind of song that suits Chakri's voice. ***.75

Gili Andrea rocked with 'Zara Zara' in Rakhee. This gal is definitely not a one-song wonder, and she's set to prove that. This dance number has Andrea and Devan with their ultra-cool voices. This sounds a little like an R&B number, with snazzy beats to get your feet tapping. Oh, and there is the usual English rap pushing its way into the song. How could we have survived before we mixed Telugu lyrics with hip hop? Tip-Top! ***.5

Satte Good lyrics, good rhythm, good playback-what more can you ask for in a song? Satte surprises you, because that's three songs in a row that are good. Chakri=Consistent. Will wonders never cease! The entire album spells 'Youthful' with a capital Y. ***.75

Hansika MotwaniGola Raghu Kunche and Kausalya render this typical 'Item' song. The same...earthy, rustic, blah. The works-lyrics, chorus, folk-ish touch to it; although Chakri tries hard, with English lyrics and Arabic wordings added for that extra oomph. It might just work out, depending on the video, like it always happens, and then you hear it everywhere you go. For now, it's so-so. **.5

Manasuley Just what I was talking about. 'Manasuley' has Chakri lending his voice, and you just wish he didn't do so. This song is one of those melancholy and sensual numbers. One minor problem-it sounds just like 'Satrangi Re' from Dil Se (AR Rehman). But 'Satrangi Re' is an awesome number, and Chakri mixes this song and another old song, and makes a half-baked copy. ***

Attantode This time it is Suchitra with Ravi Verma, in another 'Item' song, which has the singers going all out with their vocals. The music is different and the song sounds...hmm...weird. The climax of the song has 'teen-maar' and ends in a frenzy. ***

Verdict Desamuduru exudes youth; you gotta listen to it to feel it. Nothing that will go down in history, but one of the year's peppier albums. The dance numbers are good, and the other numbers are not bad either. It'll be worth your while to listen to this once.
