Sangamam stars Rohit and Sindhura Gadde and is directed by Rasool, who last directed Bhageeratha. It has music by MM Keeravani and lyrics by Anantha Sriram. The album has 5 songs, including one English version. It definitely sounds like a Keeravani album (which means it isn't bad) but we've heard better from the musician.

Poothavesina This song is very slow, very soft and very beautiful. Keeravani and Pranavi render this song. Lyrics by Anantha Sriram are very sweet and romantic, and a highlight for the song. This song sounds a little like Ramachakkani Sita of Godavari in parts. But still, it is a song with flawless playback and soft melody entwined in softness. A lovely love song to start the album. ***.75

Rohit and Sindhura GaddeSanthosham Arun, Naani, Bhargavi Pillai and Geetha Madhuri sing this happy number. As the title suggests, it's a fun and peppy number, possibly with a group of youngsters having a blast. It's a party song, but it has no freshness or any extra appeal as such. Lyrics are just okay, and the foursome gives a reasonably good playback. **1/2

Paalaraathi Shilpaaniki From Student No. 1 to the recent Yamadonga, this is a Keeravani special song. There are many categories-Typical Keeravani, Special Keeravani, Hardcore Keeravani, Cream of Kreem and pardon me, Copycat Keeravani. This is Special Kreem, because he's a specialist in these numbers, which has contemporary ethnic flavor in it. Some mischief in lyrics and the beats (the dinchak-dinchak type) and a sharp midway pace. **.75

Chinuku Chinuku This is a solo number by Sunitha. Again, as the title suggests, it's obviously a 'rain song'. Except its not about romance or passion as rain songs in cinema generally tend to be-it's just about the beauty of rain. It's a nice song, quite cheery with good playback and lyrics adding to the catchy tune. ***

Sindhura GaddeAre You An Angel Bhargavi Pillai renders this English song, and does a good job of it. This seems to be the English version of Poothavesina, with deliberate changes. This might be a part of the background score, and if used well, it will be really nice. Like in Laagan, the song 'Orey Chori' has an English bit chipped in (My heart it speaks..), and is used beautifully. Are You An Angel sounds good, but is not thoroughly engrossing or as sweet as Poothevesina. ***

Last Word Poothavesina and Chinuku Chinuku are the picks of the album. One is a slow, soft song while the other is a medium-pace solo song. Paalaraathi Shilpaaniki is not bad, ditto for Are You An Angel. Santhosham is bland for a party number; the rest depends solely on the picturization. As of now, the album has three decent songs-not bad, but not Keeravani's best.
