Souryam stars Gopichand and Anushka once again after the hit Lakshyam. The movie is directed by Shiva and produced by Anand Prasad. The music by Mani Sharma is good, with at least 3 of the numbers being catchy. Not Sharma's top slot or anything, but a good hear nonetheless.
Hello Miss Karthik and Priya sing to Ramajogayya Sastry's lyrics. This romantic duet is equal amounts peppy and soft, a combination Mani Sharma perfected over the years. Not his best but an okay opening number. A feel-good song, it borders on teeny-bopper (courtesy lyrics and the pep) if not for the slightly mature tone and playback and a melody filled stanza that balances the song. ***
Buggalona A clever rip off of a beat here and a tune there, Buggalona is rendered sweetly by Malavika and Deepu. The background and the chorus work for this number. This has an old world tinge to it, so it feels like a remix. Ramajogayya Sastry's lyrics are about the freshness (a) love-life. The instrumental is pretty good, typical Sharma. Catchy and hummable. ***.25
Ole Ole Rahul Nambiar and Suchitra lend their voices to this dark, club-ish number. Bhaskarabhatla pens in the lines for this techno-based dance number with a husky upbeat vocal score dominating the track along with the instrumental. Midway the song changes suddenly with more techno-remix-mishmash to give it a ‘different' feel. A good dance song with vTippu renders this solo with lines by Bhaskarabhatla. The song which starts with a woman's praise and carries on to assurance by the Hero that yeah, he's great and he'll look after the entire world. Or something to that effect. Not to everyone's taste, this might prompt some to press skip on their players. Probably a situational number where a lot of the Hero's history (Note: not lead, simply Hero) is rendered. And what he's capable of-which is just about everything. **.75
Ammi Ammi Another solo, this time courtesy Hemachandra with lyrics by Anantha Sriram. A Telugu-English number with a cheeky and teasing tone. It's one of those boy-tease-girl songs, and will feature in the 1000 best boy-tease-girl numbers of all time. But not in the top 100. It's okay while it lasts, but pretty forgettable. **.75
Pillo Naa Tippu and Rita sing Bhaskarabhatla's lines. An upbeat duet, with the pepped up playback and energy being its pluses. Minuses? We've heard this one before, many times over. **.75
Last Word Good on-the-road music, three of the numbers grow on you. Nothing new or entirely fresh, but not stale either. The other three are just average, heard before songs. Overall, pretty decent music; not a disappointment from Mani Sharma.
