After a super successful album like Desamuduru, Chakri came up with Satyabhama and Hello Premistara, both of them comparatively smaller movies and both duds at the BO. Takkari is directed by Amma Rajasekhar and stars Nitin and Sada. Nitin is back after a makeover worthy of Allu Arjun.
Ammi Ammi Chakri can actually be titled the Telugu Himesh Reshammiya. First, he has a slight nasal singing voice; secondly he also takes high pitch in every song he sings. Third is he comes up with commercially viable numbers but ones that fade away. Then he chooses lyrics (or the lyrics choose him) where the words are repetitive. In this case, Ammi Ammi. This is a typical Chakri song, and easy on the ears and hummable. Sai Shivani gives the female playback and the instrumental makes a mark. ***
Kobbari Kobbari After Ammi Ammi, it's now the turn of Kobbari Kobbari. Another duet, another Chakri playback, this time with Kausalya giving him company. This has some Punjabi influence, and sounds suspiciously like 'Rabbaru Gajulu' from Yamadonga. The instrumental is a little too loud, but it still is a decent dance number. Oh, and it ends with a south classical instrumental followed by a 'Teen Maar' and finishing off with a soft folk beat. **.75
Yele Yelele Chakri again but with Juben Gaarg stealing the limelight. Revathi chips in the female playback. This is pacy, but is softer than the rest of the loud and fast danceable songs of the album. This is more like Sufi meets lounge. Juben's accented Telugu voice and the Hindi chorus with Juben and Chakri make the song catchy and rhythmic. ***
Naacho Naacho This is another loud dance number, aptly starting off with a 'Naacho Naacho' (talk about repeating the lyrical beats). Ravi Verma takes a shot at the male playback this time with an active female chorus. The instrumental has a distinct Tamil influence. Totally, it sounds like it was first a Tamil song that had the lyrics translated into Telugu. You know how that sounds right? That's it, and yes it's total 'Mass'. **.75
Aaa Aaa Aaa Another fast number. Whew! The album refuses to allow anything slower, softer or melodious. This number is a little juvenile, lyrics and all. It might grow on you as you listen. Naveen and Kausalya lend their voices for this duet. **.25
Last Word The music doesn't disappoint, but Chakri's music is getting a little too repetitive. So we've been there, heard that. It has lively music, surely, but music that has become old news now. The fare of both the music and movie depends now on the movie, and how the music is used in the movie. As of now, the album is average, with two good numbers.
