Mani Sharma Strikes A Chord With NBK Fans

APK | April 21, 2006

Rating: ***1/2 (***** Very Good, **** Good, *** Fair, ** Average, * Bad)

Mani Sharma has always given music for NBK's films that went on to become huge commercial successes like Samara Simha Reddy and Narasimha Naidu. This is another one for them, with three super hit tunes guaranteed, which are both fresh and get you to tap your feet with the beats. There are three forgettable numbers along with that, but they will last for a while if the movie is a hit, and by the look of it, that seems guaranteed too.

Jagam Kosam This sounds like NBK's song to his admirers. Bhashasree's lyrics and Shankar Mahadevan's vocals go well together. One can imagine NBK singing 'Jagam kosam suridu... jagam kosam unta mee todu'. This is a number that will go down well with the audience, and it's a treat for his fans. ***1/2

Abbabba This number is rendered by SPB and Chitra, an amazing combination as always, and reminds you of the early 90s duets that were sung by them, for say NBK and Ramya Krishna. It has the feel of those songs that today's teens and youth listened to as they were growing up. The tune is nice, and it will be one of the popular songs of the album. ***1/2

Aa Yedukondalu This is a song which has a fresh feel along with beautiful and romantic lyrics. The quality of composition is lovely in this song. Even as it is a melodious composition, it might want one to get up and sway along to the peppy beats. ****

Jujubilallo This is an okay song, we heard this kind of song all the time. This song will need good choreography and picturizations to make it rock, otherwise it's nothing different, but it doesn't disappoint either. ***

Sirimalli This is a very sentimental song full of affection between siblings. It has a happy and melodious feel to it. Mallikarjun impress with his vocals, and Vardhini stands her own. It is a pleasant and hummable song. ****

Boppaye A trademark Balayya song, and this one will not disappoint his following either. Nothing new to offer here, but it will be gulped down by the masses. ***

And the verdict is... Mani Sharma can stand up and take a bow, the music is definitely above average and is meant especially for Balayya fans: the team knows exactly what the masses are looking for. 'Aa Yedukondalu' and 'Sirimalli' are beautiful compositions and will not be forgotten easily. Overall it's another feather in the cap for NBK, with a little bit of the new and a little bit of the old, his admirers will ask for an encore.
