Vijayadasami is the remake of the hit Tamil hit Sivakasi (Vijay-Asin) starring Kalyanram and Vedika. The music is by Srikanth Deva, who earlier composed for E. Sattibabu's Evandoi Sreevaru. Read on.
Raara Raara One of those inspirational numbers, more in the league of 'Dum Dum Dum Nataraju Aadali' than 'Kodithe Kottali'. It has lyrics like 'Manchini Penchalira Chedune Tunchalira..' written by Abhinaya Srinivas and energetic 'mass' beats. Shankar Mahadevan's versatile vocals are suited for songs like this and he is fabulous. The music, vocals and lyrics make this song enjoyable to hear, and it will be interesting to watch it on screen. ***.75
Idhi Okka Harish Raghavendra and Sujatha sing this duet with lyrics by Anantha Sriram. It's not bad but (Yawn!) repetitive and boring. **.25
Devathaku SP Balu renders this sentimental and sappy song. Gurucharan writes heart-wrenching lyrics to accompany the soft, slow and doleful music. **.5
Cine Tara This duet by Mano and Swarnalatha is peppy, fun and danceable. Velpula Venkatesh's lyrics are atypical and add to the fun element in this lively number. This song has a Tamil touch to it, including the instrumental and chorus. It sounds like a Telugu/Tamil song of the 90s and is energy personified. ***
Deepavali This is another fast number. But it sounds like Eeshwar Teja's lyrics teamed with Vasundhara Das and Naveen's playback could have done with a different tune. The duo's voices have been wasted in this song, somehow. It has a heavy dose of acoustic guitar and passionate drum beats. The chorus is straight from 'Love Elephantla' (Aparchithudu), this one fails to be as intense as it starts out to be. **.5
Are Kalyana This song sounds like it was first composed in Tamil, then dubbed in Telugu. That said, this is yet another fast song which sets your feet tapping. This starts off with 'Are..Kalyana Gadiye Teste' referring to the main lead Kalyanram apart from the obvious-wedding. Then the usual and mandatory 'Nandamuri' comes up in this song. Overall, an entertaining number, sung with much gusto by Udit Narayan and Anuradha Sriram. ***
Last Word The music obviously has a dominant Tamil influence and is totally 'Mass' without being jarring or cheap. It has some foot-tapping numbers, one inspirational song and a duet and a senti song to round it off. So it's a complete album-a complete Telugu commercial potboiler album.
