Two Good Tracks

Visakha Express has an interesting crew. Firstly the director is Vara Mullapudi (son of Mullapudi Venkata Ramana), who previously directed the dud called 'Naa Alludu' starring NTR. The movie is presented by Rajamouli while the script is by Chandrashekar Yeleti of Anukokunda Oka Roju and Okkadunnadu fame. The music has been composed by Vijay Kurakula, who earlier gave music to the interesting low-budget success 'A Film by Aravind'. Visakha Express stars Rajeev Kanakala, Allari Naresh, Preeti Jhangiani and Sindhu Tolani.

Kasakku Sokulu Sujatha goes solo for this song. It's a cheerful number, with lyrics by Anantha Sriram. It has nothing new to offer, and has that been there, heard that effect. Not bad and that's the best one could say about it. **

Maapatela Ee Roju This song starts with Jackson-ish beats (similar to the one before Black or White starts) and Suchitra takes over the playback starting off with a breathless stanza, and then the entire feel becomes suddenly more Indian. Sahiti pens the lyrics for the song that has many instrumental interludes. Otherwise the playback sounds like a folk-contemporary fusion mix. **.75

O Prema SP Balasubrahmanyam after a long time. He teams up with Geeta Madhuri to do what he does best-sing. This song is all about estranged love. Not exactly 'Prema Prema' from 'Prema Desam', not even close, but has the same theme and singer. Lyrics by Jonnavittula, the playback and the pace work for the song. It's a melancholy number, and has some passion in both the lines and the tune. ***

Maapre Maapre It's 'Maapre-ma Prema Prema', get it, get it? It's a cute number. After estranged love, it's the turn of cute teeny bopper style romance. Ranjit's dewy voice teams up with Gopika Poornima. Jonnavittula pens down the fun lines and overall the song is both hummable and catchy. ***

Allari Naresh and Rajeev Kanakala

O Prema This is O Prema with some rap added in for good measure. This is also Maapre Maapre with some rap added in for good measure. Noel raps with conviction, giving SP Balu and Geeta Madhuri company. The English lyrics spell heartache along with the drum beats to elevate the moody blues. ***

Last Word It's a relatively small album, with just four songs and a remix of one of the songs. In fact O Prema, Maapre Maapre and O Prema (with rap by Noel), all seem connected. Maapatela Ee Roju has an interesting feel to it, but is not really memorable. Vishaka Express has two tracks that stand out in an otherwise average album.
