Rating: ***.5 (***** Very Good, **** Good, *** Fair, ** Average, * Bad)
Yamadonga borrows its concept from the old NTR starrer Yamagola. Director Rajamouli and music composer MM Keeravani team up yet again. NTR stars in this movie, coming together with this team after Simhadri. Whether they give a blockbuster again, one can only wait and watch. As for the music, it is a mix of good and mediocre numbers. Keeravani sometimes tends to get repetitive, but the result is never bad.
Rabbaru Gajulu Daler Mehndi renders this Telugu Bhangra number and Pranavi gives him company. Mehndi's voice sounds a little different at first, till he picks up the pitch. No doubt, his voice will fit NTR's persona to a T. A typical Bhangra beat and Ananth Sriram's lyrics make this song a danceable song. ***.75
Noonoogameesalodu A lovely melodious number which we can easily recognize as Keeravani's trademark composition, if you listen to a lot of Telugu/Hindi music. A romantic duet sung by Keeravani and Sunitha accompanied by soft instrumental interludes. The lyrics by Ananth Sriram are good. ***1/2
Naachore The title track, it's an interesting combination of trance and Hindi pop music style. ***.25
Olammi Tikkareginda The star of the show. The song has been picturized on the two people who've sung it: NTR and Mamta Mohandas. The old song has been remixed as well as it could have been, and the dialogue before and in between the song could only be heard in a Keeravani number. Rajamouli-Keeravani combi makes immodesty look tasteful. ***
Nuvvu Mutukunte Hmmm..this is an okay song. Not bad, but nothing great. A duet between KG Ranjith and Pranavi, with lyrics by Ananth Sriram. **1/2
Srikarakarunda Mano's powerful voice shines through as he recites this 'Padyam'. Picturized on Mohan Babu (as Lord Yama), a Padyam destined to wake the audiences up and make them sit up. Jonnavithula displays his talent with the pen and Mano shows his versitality.
Chalachallagali This one again sounds like it is straight out of a B&W myth movie. Keeravani and Sangeetha's vocals along with Jonnavithula's lyrics make it a soft and sweet duet. ***
Bambham Chumbanala Mano again, with Pranavi this time, and Jonnavithula's lyrics. A short and sweet number.
Young Yama Keeravani starts this number with a sweet little intro, while Shankar Mahadevan takes over with fast beats, peppy music and crazy lyrics. Mano and Pranavi also lend their voices to this number. 'Anna de taraka mantram' is sure to make the clan's fans happy. 'Aa nati ramudu..ee nati manamadu..narakanni chedugudu adesaru'-so speaks Mano, about the Young Yama a.k.a. NTR. ***1/2
Pick of the Album: Rabbaru Gajulu and Young Yama.
Last Word Rabbaru Gajulu, Young Yama, Olammi Tikkareginda and Naachore will have the masses lapping up this album in no time. It has a variety. Dance numbers, slow and soft melodies, a romantic duet and two poems! All in all, an interesting album, but the fate of the music and movie, as always are interlinked. As of now, the album will sell, as the music is satisfactory.
