Evergreen Hero's Evergreen Hit Dasara Bullodu
March 21, 2007

Dasara Bullodu, starring the hit pair of yesteryear Telugu cinema-ANR and Vanisri, was noted filmmaker VB Rajendra Prasad's first attempt at direction. Before this film, VB Rajendra Prasad was known as a successful producer having produced many blockbusters under his home banner Jagapati Art Pictures, most of them starring ANR in the lead.
Dasara Bullodu, also starring Chandrakala-the second female lead, SV Rangarao, Nagabhushanam, Gummadi, Padmanabham and Anjali Devi, was released on 13th January, 1971 and went on to become this huge hit. It had lyrics-dialogues by Acharya Atreya, music by KV Mahadevan and cinematography by S. Venkataratnam. Sri Lakshmi Films distributed the film.
It ran in Pratap Talkies, Tirupati for 254 days, before it was replaced by Prem Nagar on 24th September, 1971 again starring ANR and Vanisri. Incidentally, even Prem Nagar celebrated a 100-day run at the theatre.
VB Rajendra Prasad later directed Akkineni in Bangaru Babu, Bangaru Bommalu, Rama Krishnulu, Muddula Koduku, SP Bhayankar and Bharyabhartala Bandham, but none could repeat the success that Dasara Bullodu managed.
