1992 was a year where every top hero had a hit [Chiranjeevi-Gharana Mogudu, Balakrishna-Rowdy Inspector, Nagarjuna-President Gari Pellam, Venkatesh-Chanti]. It was also a lucky year for Meena with six hits [Chanti, Allari Mogudu, Pellam Chebithe Vinali, President Gari Pellam, Sundarakanda and Allari Pilla] in her kitty.

Super Hits: Venkatesh had a super hit with Chanti, which was a remake of the Tamil hit Chinna Thambi. Maestro Ilayaraja's music was the prime strength of the film. Inspired by the success of Chanti, Venkatesh's home concern Suresh Productions remade the film in Hindi as Anari, which marked the Bollywood debut of Venkatesh.

K. Raghavendra Rao, who gave a second life to Mohanbabu in the form of Alludugaru, directed the actor again in Allari Mogudu and repeated the magic.

Chiranjeevi's Gharana Mogudu was the biggest hit of the year and the music of the film became a rage. Balakrishna's Dharmakshetram was a disappointment but he came back strongly with Rowdy Inspector, directed by his favorite B. Gopal.

Nagarjuna's President Gari Pellam broke the records set by his previous films. He married his long-time sweetheart Amala during the same year.

Dasari Narayana Rao's Surigadu, Kodi Ramakrishna's Pellam Chebithe Vinali, EVV Satyanarayana's Seetaratnam Gari Abbayi (which came laced with some double meaning dialogue) and ANR's College Bullodu were the other super hit films.

Hits: Mondi Mogudu Penki Pellam, Adarsham, Akka Mogudu and Sundarakanda.

Average: Killer, Appula Apparao, Nagabala, Allari Pilla, Teja, Brahma, Peddarikam, Prema Shikaram, Ankuram, Prema Vijetha, Apadbandhavudu, Donga Police, Balaramakrishnulu, Brindavanam and Alexander.

Dharmakshetram [though opened well at the ticket window], Brahma, Samrat Ashoka, Chinarayudu, Antham and Apadbandhavudu failed to live up to the audience's expectations.

Among the 40 odd dubbing films, only Hrudayam, Mande Suryudu and Roja were able to make profits.
