The muhurat of Sri Lalitha Kalanjali Productions' Prod. No. 9, starring NBK, Meera Jasmine, Sneha and Navneet Kaur in lead roles, was held on Sunday, April 30 at Ramanaidu Studios, Hyderabad. Produced by Vakada Apparao and directed by P. Vasu (of 'Chandramukhi' fame), the film will have Jayapradha playing a central character.

Union Minister Dasari sounded the clapper-board, while Mohanbabu switched on the camera and D. Ramanaidu directed the muhurat shot, which was filmed on NBK.

Vakada Apparao said, "I am back into production after a gap of few years. I consider myself lucky, because I never expected it to happen at all. Gurukiran, who scored music for several successful Kannada films including Jogi and Aptamitra, is making his debut in Telugu films with this film. The story and dialogues are by Thotapalli Madhu. A 20-day schedule will be held from May 4 in Uttaranchal, while the second schedule will be held in June. It is slated for a September 2006 release. P. Vasu said, "My father Peetambaram garu, whom everyone knows, served as personal make up artist to legendary actor NTR. My association with Balakrishna spans over three decades. I directed him earlier in 'Sahasame Jeevitham' under the name Bharati Vasu. I am lucky that I got to work with him again."

Although not willing to divulge details, P. Vasu admits that Balakrishna will be playing a different character in the film, while the mother character will be played by Kovai Sarala. "Jayapradha will essay a pivotal role in the film," he added.

Gurukiran said, "I have scored music for Upendra's 'A' which was later dubbed in Telugu. I have also worked with Telugu directors like Arun Prasad, Veera Shankar and Puri Jagannath. I am a big fan of Balaiah garu and I am glad that I have got the opportunity to work with him. There will be six songs in the film."

Naresh expressed his happiness over working with Balakrishna after a gap of 10 years. He last worked with Balakrishna in 'Sri Krishnarjuna Yuddham'. Writer Thotapalli Madhu and financier Sunku Ramesh also spoke on the occasion.
