Prasad Art Pictures' Blockbuster Illarikam

March 23, 2007

The lead pair of Illarikam - ANR and Jamuna

Late producer AV Subbarao (20-01-1926 to 22-03-2007), popularly known as 'PAP' Subbarao after his production house Prasad Art Pictures (P) Ltd., produced more than 20 films in Telugu, most of them starring his brother-in-law Akkineni Nageswara Rao.

AV Subbarao's first film with ANR, Illarikam, co-starring Jamuna and directed by Tatineni Prakasha Rao, was not only the biggest hit of 1959 but also of his career.

Interestingly, all his big hits came in the earlier part of his career. His other notable hits include Bharya Bhartalu (celebrated 100 days in 11 centres), Brahmachari and Alumagalu (released in the silver jubilee year of the production house), all starring ANR in the lead role.

He introduced directors like Pratyagatma (Bharya Bhartalu), Tatineni Ramarao (Navaratri) and A. Mohan Gandhi (Ardhangi) to films.

The following is the list of films produced by AV Subbarao in Telugu.
