NTRRavi Chitra Films' Nippulanti Manishi was a remake of Zanjeer [1973], which catapulted Amitabh Bachchan to stardom. The Telugu remake, released on 25th October, 1974, was also a huge success and ran for 100 days in 8 centres. It also had a silver jubilee run [with shifts] in Vijayawada.

The film had NTR playing the lead role [a straightforward police officer], which was played by Amitabh Bachchan in the original. While Latha played the role of Jaya Bachchan, it also featured Kaikala Satyanarayana in the role that Pran played in the original.

With story by the hit writer duo Salim-Javed and screenplay and direction by SD Lal, the film was an instant success.

The music was by Satyam, lyrics by CiNaRe-Arudra-Kosaraju, cinematography by SS Lal, dialogues by Gollapudi, editing by K. Balu, art by B. Chalam, choreography by Heeralal & Chinni-Sampath, and action by KS Madhavan.

Music director Satyam copied a song 'Yaari Hai Iman Mera', originally composed by Kalyanji-Anandji and written by Gulshan Bawra for Zanjeer and the song [Snehamera Jeevitam] was picturised on NTR and Satyanarayana.
