Annapurna Vari Poolarangadu, released on 24th November, 1967 completed 40 years yesterday. Produced by D. Madhusudhana Rao and directed by Adurthi Subbarao, the film starred 'matinee idol' ANR, Sobhanbabu, Jamuna and Vijayanirmala in the lead roles.
While trade pundits predicted that the film would be a let down, it went on to become a super hit of 1967 and completed 100 days in 11 theatres. It was also Annapurna's biggest financial success since its inception.
'Jubilee Star' Rajendra Kumar was the chief guest at the 100 day celebrations of the film held at Basanth Talkies, Hyderabad, which was also graced by former minister Konda Lakshman Bapuji.
Poolarangadu had music by Rajeswara Rao, cinematography by PS Selvaraj, dialogues by Muppala Ranganayakamma and story by Mullapudi Venkata Ramana.
