Paresh Rawal, Govinda and Akshay KumarAkshay, Paresh Rawal and Suneil Shetty's combo is back..hey wait! Did I just say Suneil Shetty? No, no, change that to Govinda. Who? Good old Comedy King Govind Arora alias Govinda. This trio is sure to draw the crowds to the theatres, but Priyadarshan's old touch we saw in movies like Hera Pheri is lost somewhere.

Bhagam Bhag is the remake of a Malayalam movie and the producer had gotten very annoyed that Priyan (as he is fondly called) took the story without his permission and sued him. All's well that end's well, like they demonstrate in this confusion-filled comedy.

What's it about? Okay, so there's a Theatre Company that actually seems to make profits, gets an offer to perform in London along with free air tickets and free stay. But they cannot get a female actor from any of the innumerable agencies that are there-in fact they don't even think about it. So when their 'heroine' Tanushree Dutta leaves because of harassment from Babla (Govinda) and Bunty (Akshay), they rope in Munni (Lara Dutta) in London who has suicidal tendencies. Bunty loves Munni, but Munni is married to Vikram Chauhan (Arbaaz Khan) who takes her home. Munni, Vikram cause Bunty and Babla and their Sethji (Rawal) to fall into trouble and run from the London police with an Indian officer, played by Jackie Shroff. Then there is a taxi driver Gullu (Rajpal Yadav), a drunkard played by Shakti Kapoor and a host of others with separate tracks that merge into one in the end.

Lara DuttaHow is it? It's funny, we get our laughs, sure. But then there are so many tracks that one feels like its just there to create a little more confusion. The whole adventure at the top of the tower in the end is typically Priyan, typically silly but makes us laugh. The whole track with Manu Gandhi and his heroin supplying side-kicks is totally illogical, but who's thinking? For this kind of movies, keep your brains safely at home. Reason and logic simply cease to exist. If something is there, it's there because its funny and you are supposed to laugh. That way, the whole effort at comedy seems forced at times, especially in the first 30 minutes.

This looks like a simple equation that Priyan has come up with. Three characters-one stupid, one sincere and the other cunning together stuck in situations along with a number of stock characters.

There are moments that make the movie-typical one-liners, retorts and everything else designed to make one laugh. Reality goes for a toss, which is fine, but it gets a little too silly and forceful in Bhagam Bhag.

Songs: Signal and 'Tere Bin' are good numbers.

Arbaaz KhanWho's in it? Akshay: The 'Khiladi' kid has come such a long way, that he has almost undergone a complete transformation. His acting skills are up to the mark, he is as fit as ever, his timing with Paresh Rawal and Govinda are flawless. The two-day old stubble is present throughout the movie, and he is graying, but apart from that, AK rocks right now.

Govinda: Govinda Ala Re! This comeback is not exactly astounding, but then, he's a different Govinda from what one remembers, simply because David Dhawan and Priyadarshan are two different directors. The quality of work they extract out of the same actor will differ. No comparisons, but Govinda is different in this movie, almost AK's second-in-command. He has his moments in the movie, and the crowd still loves him.

Paresh Rawal: He carries on his Babu Bhai act of Hera Pheri, but even if repetitive, he is lovable in BB. His timing with the duo is super cool, and the three of them are good together. Wish he'd move on though, Sethji of BB could have been different from Babu Bhai, but there's no effort to do that.

Lara Dutta and Arbaaz Khan: Dutta is not bad, she has potential. Arbaaz Khan also has potential, but he comes across as wooden-faced simply because he lacks the drive. It looks like these two actors held back their efforts to perform in their on-off roles in the movie to their fullest potential.

Jackie ShroffOthers: Rajpal Yadav is typecast now, Shakti Kapoor has two funny moments and Jackie Shroff looks worn. The rest of them, including Asarani, Sharat Saxena are wasted. Tanushree has a blink-and-miss role.

Conclusion: Bhagam Bhag will run for a while because there is nothing else to watch right now that'll give us a few laughs. It doesn't have Priyan's touch, the charming way he creates characters that stay on in our minds. Wish he'd work on new characters instead of the same old trio from the much liked Hera Pheri with names and professions changed. Still, the trio is endearing in its own way, and one can watch Bhagam Bhag for time-pass.
