Arjun is the 'moon' and the three girls with whom he gets entangled at different stages are the 'stars'. That explains the title. Then there is a grandpa V. Krishna Rao of Vedullapalli, played by ANR, who is more a friend to his grandson and a 'Guru' too, in advising, if necessary, to do what at what time as to choosing a girl as a life partner. In fact it is him who plays a crucial part in the climactic drama to draw it to a happy end. Bollywood legend Waheeda Rehman plays a brief role as ANR's wife. The grandmother passes away even before their wish of getting their grandson married is materialized. Arjun lost his parents in a plane accident and grows under the care of his grandparents. Hence it has become a sentimental and moral responsibility of the boy to marry and bring a girl to take care of himself and of course that of the old man. This is the base for the ensuing drama that becomes a major part of the entertainment.Arjun is choosy and wants that one of his three childhood friends should become his wife. He comes across these girls of great promise and of his liking. But who to marry becomes the issue. Sunil plays his buddy and advisor, in advising what Arjun should do. But the young man has his own way in doing or undoing the situations he gets involved in. The script is quite interesting with sensible drama played up between Arjun and each one of the three girls he chose – Shalini (Saloni), a tennis player, Sandhya (Charmme), a Green Peace worker and the highly domesticated girl Sravani (Sada) doing medicine, living under the care of her 'Pinni' (Sana) and her crooked husband (Tanikella Bharani). Arjun thinks she is the right choice to wed. Surprisingly all the three girls, don't recognize him as their childhood pal. Nor Arjun reveals as it was he who surveyed and found them in different vocations. Whom does he finally marries is the issue that the film deals with, till the last frame of the drama. And that's exactly the reason that sustains the viewer's interest.  It is a blow hot, blow cold situation for him whenever he comes across one or the other girl. In the process he leaves Shalini to her profession of tennis, as desired by her father (Pratap Pothan) and Sandhya to her boy friend (Prabhudeva), by rebuilding their lost relationship and then he himself settles for Sravani. But Sravani due to the ploy of her vicious uncle, mistakes him as a cheat. The rest is high charged drama, worth watching.Both the veteran actors, ANR and Waheeda Rehman, give histrionic and sentimental weight to the drama and their roles too are judiciously used. It is a pleasant narration from the start to the finish, with bias for humor. The situations are well developed by the scriptwriters and director, sticking to the mischievous attitude of Arjun. Sunil's role for once looks sensible. Siddartha is simply brilliant, as brilliant as the mischievous acts he has, to carry in the film with him. All the three girls featured in the drama too offer performances of high histrionic caliber. Music is in tune with the mood and appeal of the film, but never with bad taste. |
