After a spate of disappointing flops at worst and average grossers at best, Srinu Vytla is back. Vishnuvardhan did not really taste success either, and what they both needed as director and actor respectively was a solid story and unique treatment. That's just what Dhee offers. Read on.

Genelia and VishnuPlot Srinivasa Rao a.k.a. Babloo (Vishnu) works for Shankar Goud (Srihari), a big-time goon with an expanding empire. What Babloo does is maintain his accounts, with Chari (Brahmanandam) and others for colleagues and Kathi (Sunil) watching over them. Shankar's sister Pooja (Genelia) is under threat from Shankar's rival Yadav (Supreet) whose son was killed by Shankar. Babloo is a brainy chap and modernizes the traditional set-up at the accounts, gives quirky solutions and saves Pooja's life many a time. Babloo and Pooja are in love, but they are terrified of Shankar's ire. How they manage to get his blessings and save Pooja from threat permanently is the rest of the plot.

Story, Screenplay and Direction The story is simple and goes on quickly enough. With the rock solid foundation, the treatment is highly appealing-drama and sentiment with many interludes of comedy. The comedy scores, and Anandam's Srinu Vytla is back with a bang. The characters are the highlight-Babloo's brainy solutions are nothing we haven't seen before, but the way the characters starts and ends is consistent and believable.

The dialogues are well-written. There are times when logic doesn't work and some continuity and dubbing issues are evident, but overall the quality does not deteriorate. The first half is entertaining, and while we wait for a bigger conflict in the second half, the writer/director make things easy-nothing earth-shaking and mind-numbing occurs. There are dilemmas, but Babloo solves them in a jiffy. The interest levels quiver at this point, but with all the comedy and seen-before stuff, the movie still manages to stay afloat.

Brahmanandam as Chari, calling Babloo 'Rao Garu', his permanent statement-"Indulo nannu involve cheyakandi"-are all extremely amusing. Suneel's character is also funny, while the Dance joke is similar to Ananadam's with MS Narayana. Babloo's family especially Chandramohan playing his father and Genelia-Vishnu pairing stand out as their timing is good.

SrihariPerformances Vishnu has lost his lisp and has a very animate face. There is still obviously some chiseling to do, some edges to sharpen. But there is an improvement from his debut, and he has the advantage of a well-written and a very appealing character in this flick. Genelia is good, no more and no less, and very charming. Srihari does a good job of living Shankar Goud, with the very real, very convincing dialect, body language and aura he gives. Brahmanandam, Chandramohan display what pros they are at what they do, while the characters of Sunil and Jayaprakash Reddy (playing a paralyzed man) deserve special mention.

Music and Dance Decent music, nothing harsh on the ears. Average picturizations, but forgettable numbers.

Last Word For cool entertainment in this hot weather, Dhee is not a bad watch. First half is fun, and the second half doesn't disappoint either. Nothing outstanding, but almost 3 hours of time-pass.
