Like Hyderabad Blues and later The Angrez, some movies set trends and others follow. FM follows a lead, and is a school of filmmaking that believes that a good plot and screenplay are needed to make a movie, and not a mega-budget. FM doesn't reach up to its predecessors (one of them produced by the same person-RK) but for a debutant director, is still watchable.

Payal Sarkar and Aziz NaserPlot Hussain is a painter and his friend Jhonny sells 'herbal medicine' on the roadside. Jhonny's girlfriend Rosy has a police inspector David for a brother. Hussain is called to paint Gullu Dada, a local goon who refuses to pay him. The duo decide to teach him a lesson and the various characters get entangled into the game.

Story, Screenplay and Direction After a very enjoyable The Angrez followed by Hyderabad Nawabs, it's now the turn of FM. But it seems the entertainment quotient is in the descending order. Technically, this is good seeing that it is low-budget and even the music is pretty hummable with one item song by Mumait Khan. But the two female leads are stone-faced and the acting and dubbing has suffered in most parts of the movie.

The movie picks up pace right before the break, and is interesting in parts. Gullu Dada dominates the screenplay while RK who plays Inspector David, his wife, the two male leads and the pickpocket do a good job. Gullu is okay, but a definitely more superior and memorable character is Ismail Bhai. The movie has traces of RGV's Money, Daud and Anukokunda Oka Roju.

The Deccani dialect much loved by all true-blue Hyderabadis is ever-present. Some double-meaning dialogues and a little skin show is targeted at some audiences. Some of the scenes have been dragged unnecessarily. Gullu's misadventures provide maximum entertainment and David's dilemma adds to the fun element. Cinematography is good and the dialogues are okay. Lot of the story has been chopped off and that adds to some threads beginning and ending abruptly.

RKPerformances Gullu is good but not a revelation like Ismail Bhai, and Adnan Sajid Khan justifies the role. The two male leads [Aziz Naser, Koutilya] are dependable. The female leads [Payal Sarkar, Monica Nouva] are pretty but lack acting abilities. RK suits the role of a strict cop and a henpecked husband. Satya Krishnan as his wife does a good job.

Music and Dance This is an unexpected highlight, and the music is good. Mumait Khan sizzles on screen. The Qawwali is easy on the ears.

Last Word This is light entertainment. FM is not totally Fun Aur Masti, but remains interesting in parts. Just okay.
