Fardeen Khan, Ritesh Deshmukh and Akshay KumarGet one really adorable baby, three commitment-phobic men and loads of 'baby-comedy' and slapping. That's Heyy Babyy. From those who remember Sajid Khan as the witty anchor of Kehne Mein Kya Harz Hai and other shows where he pointed out movie-flaws with sarcasm and wit, this will come as a shock. This is exactly the kind of movie he'd have made fun of. That said, it's a movie that entertains.

Plot Arush, Tanmay and Ali are best friends living together in Sydney, enjoying their bachelor status to the optimum. A baby in a basket with a letter telling the father to take care of the child changes their lives. Between figuring out who among them is their father and taking care of the baby, their lives go haywire. From hostility to a deep bond, the men get so attached to the kid that they cannot tolerate her mother taking her away. What happens with this unusual family is the rest of the plot.

Story, Screenplay and Direction Make no mistake-it's laden with mush, and has mush on the sides and a little mush on top of it. Mush sells; take any blockbuster to DDLJ to KKHH into account. There is comedy, both situational and one-liners thrown in for good measure. The characters are likable, including Arush, Tanmay alias Eddy the Teddy and Ali alias Al. The baby 'Angel' is lovable and expressive.

Akshay's comedy along with Ritesh and Fardeen's timing is really good. There are some unnecessary sub-plots and the movie drags for a brief few moments in the second half. The flashback in the second half is a little silly (too much hamming) as is the constant slapping that goes on throughout the movie.

The movie moves really fast in the first half, with comedy, confusion are sentiment all one after another in it. It's a little loud in the first half, but it's entertaining till the break. Vidya Balan's character lacks clarity and why she is deceived all the time makes no sense.

Vidya BalanPerformances Akshay rocks, with excellent timing and a truly convincing act. Ritesh is a really good actor and gets into the skin of Eddy the Teddy. Fardeen completes the trio and has great chemistry with the other two. Vidya Balan has an unclear character portrait, but she does a good job. Boman Irani is really good.

Music and Dance The title song and the end credits special song 'Heyy Babyy' is good, with the numerous appearances. 'Mast Kalandar' and SRK's cameo is good. 'Jaane Bhi De' is sweet. But overall, not Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's best.

Last Word Akshay, the trio's timing, full doses of sentiment and slapstick comedy, the baby and SRK's whistle-worthy cameo are the highlights. A little hamming, a slight overdose of mush and glycerin and some silly sequences are the minuses. Sajid Khan's directorial debut is not going down in history, but it's a fun and cheery movie that will satisfy the audiences' thirst for entertainment.
