Juhi ChawlaPut a bunch of reasonably good actors together in an asylum, create comedy with their eccentricities. Because they alone might not be saleable enough, chip in three item numbers (yes, three!) and weave in a kidnap drama where the four save the day while the common 'sane' society is shown to be insensitive brutes.

The movie starts with a variety of caricatures of common society happenings which are by itself perverse. The comedy is never cheap or vulgar, but there is little to look forward to in Krazzy 4 as far as the actual movie, and not the gimmicks, go.

Plot Dr. Mukherjee has an obsessive compulsive disorder of cleanliness and order, Gangadhar is a schizophrenic who thinks it's still pre-independence era, Raja has anger management problems and Dabboo suffers from selective mutism. All of them are under the care of Dr. Sonali in an asylum, when after four years, she decides to take them out for a cricket match to blend them into common society and show them teamwork. But she gets kidnapped on the way and it is up to the Krazzy 4 to save her, a Herculean task considering they are shunned in the normal world. A criminal, a politician and a police inspector are all involved in this conspiracy.

Story, Screenplay and Direction The story is kept simple and it is an adventure that the four go through, where they learn a lot more than four years of therapy. Why there is all that preachy business in the end, with all of them reversely shunning society and asking to go back to the asylum is not clear. It could have ended on a lighter note and less of that pointing-the-flaws fare, which is a major yawn. The pace is kept slow, the comedy is consistent and the performances of Irrfan Khan and Suresh Menon stand out.

The movie is not a drag, and has its good moments. From the characters' characteristics itself, comedy is generated, which is a good thing. The actors are well-suited for their parts. The climax where all the lecture-giving takes place is the only real downer. Otherwise it is a watchable comedy, but then again, nothing that retains in your memory. It's almost as if the makers knew, for nothing else explains the presence of three item numbers.

Rakhi's song is good, but the real highlight of the song is when Dr. Mukherjee solemnly tries to rub her tattoo off at the end of the song. Shah Rukh's star value is unquestionable while Hrithik dances like a dream. But they really don't do anything for the story itself other than perhaps contribute to the entertainment value.

Arshad Warsi, Irrfan Khan, Suresh Menon and Rajpal YadavPerformances Irrfan Khan with his serious and solemn expression throughout is very good and extremely convincing. He is comical without meaning to be, without trying too hard and has an emotional scene with his daughter where she draws a star on his hand but which he doesn't wipe off-he excels in it too; always stiff backed and claiming to be 'captain of the team'.

Suresh Menon has precisely three dialogues, two of which include 'Kidnap', but he is very good and proves his talent in this movie. Arshad Warsi is really good in some scenes, while in a couple of the scenes he himself looks unconvinced and therefore a little inconsistent. Rajpal Yadav, the comic powerhouse, is not his best in the movie, although two of the best comic lines are given to him.

Rajat Kapoor is the sleek and shady villain which he does justice to and Sanjay Mishra as the police inspector is good. The guy who played a hardcore criminal hoping to get branded as mentally ill plays his brief role convincingly. Juhi Chawla is as iridescent as ever and suits the role of the kind and gentle doctor well.

Song and Dance The background score of the theme is Sony Ericcson's, which is good. The theme song is catchy and Rakhi's item song is okay. The music itself is not that great, it is just the presence of SRK and Hrithik in it and the plagiarism accusation which made news that one paid attention to it.

Bottom-Line Not a great comedy, just another time-pass summertime flick. Some good moments and unobjectionable comedy, not to mention special songs and appearances, and more than anything, the timing of its release that might make it catch quite a few eyeballs.
