After the successful '10th class', SP Entertainments is back again with another 'unique' love story. How good or bad it is-read on.
Story Charan (Bharat) is a goody-two-shoes till he meets Shivani (Vidisha), a drunk who vomits and faints constantly, and somehow Charan gets stuck in situations where he has to take care of her. He dreads her initially, but somehow falls in love with her. She asks him to write a letter to her about his feelings and she does the same-but she makes him bury both their letters in a box to abstain from meeting for an year to discover whether their feelings are true. She doesn't return after an year, and Charan reads her letter and understands that there is more to her than that meets the eye. What happens with the twosome forms the rest of the story.
Story, Screenplay and Direction For a debut, the direction is not bad. But that's about it. The story is interesting as far as the characterization of the female lead is concerned, but the actors are stone-faced for the most part and have not been used to their potential (if any). There are small incidents here and there which defy logic, but stating them here would spoil the surprise for viewers. The encounter with the jilted lover (Chitram Srinu) who tries to kill them doesn't make any sense at all. Why the boy keeps landing up in jail for something like getting drunk is without an ounce of logic, and are quite a few other things, if one watches closely.
The game which they both play a while before the break is funny, and MS Narayana's introduction, the female lead's intro, and the thread about Charan's aunty and her son reaching up to the climax are some good points in the screenplay.
Performances Bharat who debuted with the same banner in the successful 10th Class is still raw, and has a couple of films to go before he can hone his acting skills. Still, he is not bad. Vidisha has an interesting debut character to play, at least in the first half. MS and Shakuntala are pros at their roles, having performed such characters before.
Songs and Dances Patnaik's finally come out of his shell, but his music is average. The choreography is nothing to write home about, and the picturizations are mediocre too.
And the verdict is.. A couple of good scenes for comic relief, some awkwardly executed incidents, two interesting characters and one hummable song. Not good, not bad. What was the word again? Average.
