Mahanandi is a pilgrim center where Nandeeswara is installed at the entrance of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple of Lord Siva. Anyone who has to reach the God, has to pass through the Nandi and look through its horns the figure of the Lord. The lead characters here of Swamy and Sankar are played by Srihari and Sumanth respectively. They are compared to these figures. If Swamy is Lord Siva, one has to get the passage through Sankar who is compared to the Nandeeswara. In fact Sankar himself explains this, thus, when he has to detail the relationship between them. But the jobs they do in the film are different. Swamy is a Don, while Sankar is his right hand man, who is ready to offer his life for the sake of Swamy. And the end part of the drama also was enacted in Mahanandi, where the marriage of the heroine is fixed with a person she liked. Thus it has two in-built structures of the theme – one is about love and the other is about how Swamy Naidu (Srihari) became the leader of faction world only to be envied by the others. So there are innumerable fights on the one hand and an intense love drama on the other. While the action part does not carry any sense, the love story is sensible.

Swamy Naidu's parents were murdered when he and his sister were children. Swamy takes his sister with him and moves places for survival. They are brought up by one Nayar (Kota Srinivasa Rao) a landlord and faction leader. Swamy grew in that atmosphere. Sankar too as a child and orphan comes into contact with Swamy. The latter keeps him under his protection. And Sankar eventually became trustworthy follower of Swamy.

Now everyone is grown up. Swamy Naidu is the Don of the area, while Sankar is his operational hand – good and bad. With the result you find Sankar continues to be active either in the company of Swamy's sister Nandini or his factionalist army. Swamy, that is Srihari, is kept active during most of the time. But whenever there is a fight involving him, it is lengthened beyond limits. Nandini joins a college in Hyderabad and Sankar is her bodyguard. This relationship and Sankar's general nature of dominance draws Nandini nearer to him. But she never reveals to him that she loves him. When her father forces her marriage with Nayar's son, she expresses her wish to elope with her lover. But at a stage she reveals that the person she is loving is Sankar himself. Sankar keeps distance from her because of his fidelity with Swamy. But Nayar uses this information to spoil the relations between Swamy and Sankar. The rest narrates how Sankar manages both the brother and sister to bring senses in both and finally concedes to the wish of his sister. The climax is marked with a prolonged war, with a rival gang.

The story line and its characters are not perfectly streamlined. Even the theme is half-baked. But the way director Samudra plays up drama between Sankar and the girl is quite heart warming. Anushka proves a perfect fit for the character. Sumanth too proves a good actor and in some shots and angles he resembles his grandpa ANR. He is good in fight scenes too. The choreographers of action drama did a good job. Kota's role is routine, while the role of Swamy Naidu is kept inactive for most part of the film. Music is refreshing.
