Ranganath appears to have become very curious to become a director, supported by all his experience as an actor of different roles including hero in his initial days. To find a line of thought for his story, he thought it better to go for a subject or an idea that is already popular. He finds it in a farcical drama between a man and woman living together just as friends, but giving an impression that they are man and wife. In doing so Ranganath was in search of a proper title and a program called 'Moguds and Pellams' on a TV channel appears to be suitable and was suggested by a participant in that program, Sivajiraja. But the story line has quite a bit of familiarity of some stories of this kind that were already known like pretending wife and husband just because it was difficult for them to get a house on rent. And Ranganath's screenplay adds a dash of humor that suits artistes like Sivajiraja known for comedy. He is also well versed in acting different roles too. Rathi an upcoming actress is paired with Sivajiraja.

Srinivas (Sivajiraja) and Padma (Rathi) start off from a village, seeking a job. Padma's father (Chandramohan) requests Srinivas to take care of his daughter in the journey till they reach Vizag, their destination. On the way the two behave like a quarrelling couple. After getting down at Vizag, both join the same company to their own surprise. MS Narayana plays office head. Padma is quarrelsome and declares independence at every stage. They pretend man and wife and secure one house owned by Parvati and her husband LB Sriram. Sriram has the habit of expressing everything in a poetic mood. They could not get a proper room. Hence Padma draws lines on the floor in the hall requesting him never to cross them and never make any advances to her. Thus runs the drama for some time. Padma is most sought after girl in the office. Padma and Srinivas keep distance from each other, but spend time in sweet memories. In the process they develop love for each other but keep that to their hearts.

Meanwhile Padma's father fixes her marriage with a relative of Srinivas, not knowing she is in love with Srinivas. Both meet on the terrace of the office to express to each other their love for the other. He thinks she is not interested in him and is hence marrying someone else. Therefore he bluffs that he too is getting married to another woman. Two years pass off. One day Srinivas notices Padma sitting along with a man, patting a child in her lap. He mistakes him as the her husband. But that man's real wife comes there and tells that Padma remained unmarried. Now others join them and tell that Srinivas too continues to live as a bachelor. This paves way for their union.

Ranganath makes a sensible debut as director. It is a decent film and has the family element dominating. When it comes to the narration, it has fallen in the familiar track. It is not in tune with the times. We see an experienced hand in Ranganath as a devoted director. Sivajiraja and Rathi make a good pair. All the other artistes have little roles to play. Songs are well tuned. Photography is imaginative.
