He is 'Muddula Koduku' for his mother (Revathi), but a psychological wreck for others. The reason: he burnt his left cheek in an accident and on the other cheek there is growth of hair. In the rest of the part that is his kind. Therefore he is hesitant to show his face to the strangers. Venu is his name, played by Ratnam's son Ravi Krishna, who made an impressive debut with 7/G Brindavan Colony. Though the film brought audience well to the theatre, they are left high and dry due to lack of any sensible and interesting theme. They have to bear with his looks almost till the end of the film.
The young man works in a factory. Prakashraj who also works there is his mentor. In fact the dialogue gains momentum only with the presence of Prakashraj on the scene. The dialogue as such is well written. Because it is a psychological drama this did not impress the audience. Right from the first shot to the last the subject hangs to this single point of how to overcome the depression. His childhood friend (Gopika) advises him to undergo plastic surgery. He has to collect huge money for this operation. He also takes up other part time jobs, that includes garbage collection. By the time he collects enough money for his skin sugery, his mother Parvati (Revati) is hit with heart stroke. She is admitted into a hospital. Venu takes all the money he saved in a bank for his operation and goes to hospital to save his mother. But as he enters the venue he is greeted with the news of his mother's death. He is crest fallen. Only his friend and philosopher Prakashraj could console him. The last scene brings Gopika to his side suggesting that she will be his partner, who loved his heart more than his looks.
From the start, the hero is kept in a low profile. All the scenes with his presence simply drag. It is a theme that tries to tell persons to rise above their complexes if they want to lead a happy life. Ravi Krishna is always seen with sad looks. There is a needless scene showing him taken by his friend Prakashraj into the den of prostitues, and the artificial dance number featured there is the only musical relief in the film. The opening song number filmed in different locations in the country and outside is also interesting. Prakashraj and Gopika are the only artistes that impress in the cast. Most of them look Tamil artistes. Vidyasagar's music score is pleasing.
