Banner: Entertainment One, RGV Film Factory & Sk Pictures. Release Date: 9th February, 2006.  It is a film that really shocks everyone, including the film-makers. It is a glorified version of 'Neralu Ghoralu' or any other crime series on television. But the difference is this film is fiction, while they are based on real-life stories. More than what the film shows on screen, it is the audio that really shocks us with its magnified DTS effects. Cruelty rules the roost, for which two characters of Inspectors - Nagesh (Subba Raju) and Diwakar (Ravi Kale) - are allotted. As you watch the movie, you find no logic in brutal crime they commit just to cover up a mistake they commit in shooting at an innocent man instead of the real naxalite they wanted to kill. Thus the film has this weak base over which the rest of the bloody drama is built. Secondly the hero's heroics are blown out of all proportions. You cannot imagine how an employee in an advertising company floors so many well trained army of police and rowdies in the second part of the drama, which is totally the hero's action drama.It is a kind of unnatural and cinematic chain reaction of events. Nagesh and Diwakar are simply projected as gun wielding ruthless sleuths. Basing on information given by a 'Basha' they force themselves into a room where Chandra Sekhar (Raviteja) and his wife Madhurima (Jyothika), both employees of an advertising agency, live. Only Sekhar was there at that time. The sleuths make him the target of their guns. After flooring him with a gunshot, they realize that they shot at a wrong person and the naxalite they wanted to kill left the room a day before. How to cover up this great blunder they committed? The director makes a cinematic adjustment by keeping Sekhar alive, as he has to take charge of the film in the latter half of the revenge drama.  They admit him into a hospital and fabricate a story that he was the naxal they wanted. For that purpose they fill his room with Maoist literature. The silly reason they gave for this cruel act is that they are afraid of their boss (Jeeva), a taskmaster. Sekhar is then pushed into jail. Sekhar's wife Madhu is pregnant. She seeks the help of a lawyer Dharma Reddi (Kota Srinivasa Rao), who misleads her and sees that the judge (Nuthan Prasad) sends Sekhar to jail on an eight-year jail term. And then he takes huge bribe from the two sleuths in return.In jail there is a third police rogue - jailor (Raghu Babu), who proves worse than the twin sleuths do. Sekhar finds some help and sympathy from his cell-mate - Labbipeta Tilak (Raja Ravindra). The police are shown acting to the orders given by this Tilak with a wink of an eye. He also keeps a cell phone with him. There is another stock character we find in filmy jails. He is Sayyad (Sherveer), branded as a psycho and teases all the inmates of the jail. He too takes Raviteja for granted. There is a TV reporter Geetha (Tabu) of News Today. She takes pity on Madhu after knowing her true story. Geetha plans to meet the naxalites and take certificate from them that Sekhar does not belong to them. On knowing this the rogue police hang Madhu to a fan in her room, after extracting a suicide note from her. This news reaches the jail and this gives shock not only to Sekhar but also to all of us in the auditorium. This act changes the texture of the film into an action drama with an expected jailbreak after the hero kicked the psycho and the jailer. How he takes upon the persons one after another who ruined his life and killed his wife forms the rest of the story.  There are plenty of other characters that have nothing to do in the film, which include Brahmanandam as MD of the advertising company. This character should have been properly used to provide us some relief from the eerie and gruesome drama. The film also serves as a propaganda film for 'Roopa banians and underwear'. The very opening shot is on that. The role of Nagababu as CBI agent Surendar posted to investigate into the whole episode is reduced to be a mere farce. Even the finish he gives to the film is illogical. Ram Jagan plays sidekick to this role. Thus they used a wrong character for relief.The draw to the film is more because of the image of Ravi Teja. But his is a flat role. Added to that the flashback, narrating how Sekhar and Madhu fell in love and married against the will of her father is introduced in serious parts of the drama, diluting its effect. It is so insignificant that even if it is removed nobody misses it. The reason: the character of her father (Vizag Prasad) is introduced earlier pleading with his daughter to come away with him and his daughter rejecting it. In fact this is the gist of the flashback drama too. Jyothika is more like rubber doll. There is a needless and cheap 'item song' (filmed on Kashmira Shah) towards the end in the name of club dance. None of the other artistes get a sensible and purposeful role in the film. |
