 | | Sharrath Marar - Proud presenter of Hanuman | "Usually the word 'presents' following the producer's name is the first credit that appears as a movie opens. But your yet to be released movie, Hanuman, has its first credit line as, 'proudly presents', after your name. What are you so proud of, as the presenter of the movie, Mr. Marar?" CineGoer.com queried.
Before knowing Marar's answer to the question, read this short intro to know everything about Mr. Sharrath Marar. Beginning his career humbly as a small time Ad executive, he soon rose to the Manager (Operations, South India) of ABC Corporation Ltd., started by Amitabh Bachchan. This brought him into close contacts with the big wigs of the South Indian movie world. Thanks to his humility, competence and above all his polish, he rose to be an active and dynamic figure in the field of advertisement, especially in audio-visual publicity. Interestingly, the first among the prominent to encourage Mr. Marar in his attempts to build up a bright career was none other than Chiranjeevi.
With extensive contacts not only in Bollywood and Tollywood, but also with many Ad companies in Hyderabad, Marar managed to book Chiranjeevi as a brand ambassador for Thums Up and Navaratan oil, thus showing his coordination and organizational abilities. Significantly in the world of Indian advertisement, Chiranjeevi is the best known of the brand ambassadors for any regional languages and next only to Sachin Tendulkar. And to Sharrath Marar should go the credit for this, to a great extent.
Personally very close to every member of Chiranjeevi's family, Sharrath Marar was the executive producer of Johny, produced and acted in by Pawan Kalyan. Rising to great heights in his career in brand embassy, Marar himself has produced mega serials like Meghana, Mouna Poratam, Puche Mere Dil Se (for ETV) and acquired great popularity as a result of the large viewership of Kurkure Kalale Nizamaite on Gemini TV. With his known record as one who makes the best of what he touches Marar is donning a new avatar as the presenter of the new animation movie, Hanuman.
"NASSAM which encourages the production and screening of animation movies in India held a animation expo in Hyderabad," began Marar, explaining the circumstances leading to his presentation of the 2D animation movie.
"A number of animation movies from abroad were exhibited on the occasion. Watching them in all admiration many were sure that 3D animation movies were here for good and the 2D movies had had their day. However, a man seated in a corner unassumingly was smiling to himself. The 2D animation movie he later presented did the talking for the 2D movie shut the mouths of the 2D movie critics. The man was VG Samant, and the movie that had everyone admiring it was Hanuman. It had unprecedented acclamation at home and abroad. Thrilled by it I wanted to dub it into Telugu, and decided to buy the translation rights. Unfortunately, however, by the time I approached Samant, a Hyderabad organization had already bought them."
"Wondering if Chiranjeevi had known about it," continued Marar, "I raised the topic with him when I next met him. Imagine my surprise when I knew that he had more information about it than I. It then struck me that if he lent his voice to the role of Hanuman it would raise the stature of the movie. I put the proposal across to the organization that had the translation rights. They jumped at the proposal and made it to Chiranjeevi and he immediately okayed it," concluded Marar.
So, this was how the megastar came to offer his voice to the small animation movie.
 | | Chiranjeevi lends his voice for Hanuman | CineGoer.com: Mr. Marar, why do you think Chiranjeevi so readily agreed to lend his voice to the title role in the movie?
Marar: I guess three factors have prompted his decision," Marar began to explain. "That he is a devotee of Lord Hanuman is very well known. This must have inspired him to lend his voice to the role. Secondly he is known to be a child entertainer and relates very well to children. Thirdly he perhaps felt he should do his bit to this new form of entertainment – animation movies. These three reasons in my opinion led to his decision to lend his voice.
CineGoer.Com: What range, do the personal interest he has taken in it?
Marar: Hanuman is a one hour forty minute animation movie. It includes all interesting sequences from the boyhood of the mighty mythological figure Hanuman till the crowning of Lord Sri Rama. There are two songs too. Tapan Ralia, student of Trinity College of Music scored the music for it. Music is one of the highlights of the movie. Another highlight is the dialogues penned by Mullapudi Venkata Ramana of 'Budugu' fame.
CineGoer.Com: At what stage of dubbing is the movie? When will it hit the screen?
Marar: DTS work is still in progress. Chiranjeevi's dubbing is complete. The movie is special and distinct in a number of ways, besides Chiranjeevi's association with it, the dialogues and the music. So let me hasten to add that I proudly present it not because of my personal accomplishment, but because of the special attractions mentioned above, of the movie.
These are the interesting points of the movie that has risen to mega range because of the megastar's association with it.
CineGoer.com wishes Marar's venture all success and is sure that it will be a success, given Marar's business sense, careful planning and his record of successes.
