Finally it is a good film by EVV Satyanarayana. After a long time this is one film that has a perfect balance of sentiment and comedy. There has been no overdose of either two emotions, one can just relax and while away the time. At the end of the film you will still wonder why the film has been named Bendu Apparao. Surprsingly even Naresh doesn't show up with a hunch in this hilarious drama.
Apparao i.e., Naresh has umpteen followers and fans, they believe he can cure any disease and he exploits the gullible people to the maximum and that for a reason. He wants to make a fast buck as his sister is being harassed by his brother in law Krishna Bhagwan for not bringing dowry. On one occasion he runs into Padma i.e., Kamna Jetmalani and there is song, dance and love.
Padma's father is a zamindar's son..Ahuti Prasad who has a strange but an adorable trait. He loves to treat a guest even though he is a beggar in a kingly manner befitting his status. Now his mother Telangana Shakuntala and his aide Raghu Babu form a separate trio to provide laughs.
There are other comedians Srinivas Reddy, Uttej, Kondavalasa who do a good job as useless guys wasting and whiling away their time on cards. LB Sriram is a man obsessed with his fowl Samarsimha Reddy, feeds it cashew pakodis but finally his expression is not known..did he really learn that he had gobbled it up for dinner? Balakrishna's dialogue was massacred and so very funnily..when Suman Shetty says "nee intikostha nattintikostha." And the reply he get's is "yenti nee intiki na intiki vostha antunnavu, nuvvemaina adukkunevadiva?"
The coastal area is shown well and the locations are picture perfect, the ambience is natural. There are times when the movie goes slow when a murder incident takes place but the director pulls the gears and all's well that ends well. Kamna Jethmalani looks really beautiful having lost lot of weight and Meghana Raj does her job well as the teacher, she apparently makes debut in Telugu. D. Ramanaidu fits the bill as a collector in a guest role.
For Naresh, this is another wholesome plus..succeeds in entertaining the audiences..be it his songs and dances. He somewhat looks dull throughout the film, his smile is not wholesome. Ahuti Prasad entertains you from his first scene to the climax and the climax is whacky. A perfect entertainer for diwali..go for it!
